Description
The aircraft is pictured at the Science Museum's Wroughton airfield in Wiltshire. The Boeing 247 was developed from the B-9 bomber of 1931. It carried 10 pasengers, had a cruising speed of 155 mph and a range of 750 miles. it was also the first transport aircraft to feature wing and tail de-icing. The 247 was one of a group of American aircraft which revolutionised air transport in the early 1930s.
