Engraving on steel by T Owen, after a drawing by Nathaniel Whittock (1791-1860). In the middle ground, an early steam locomotive hauling a train of coal wagons is standing on a viaduct next to the staithe, or coal depot. A couple are looking at the scene, while a group of children are playing in the foreground. The smoking chimneys of the city and the church of Christ Church can be seen in the background. Published by J T Hinton, London.
