Description
Mezzotint by Thomas Hodges after R Rothwell, published by Colnaghi, London, August 1832. William Huskison (1769-1830) was Member of Parliament for Morpeth, Liskeard, Harwich, Chichester and Liverpool. On 15th September 1830 Huskison was killed when he tried to cros the track at the opening of the Liverpool and Manchester Railway to speak to the Duke of Wellington. He was hit by Stephenson's 'Rocket', driven by Joseph Locke, and died of his injuries later that day.
