Poster produced by London & North Eastern Railway (LNER) to promote rail travel to Cruden Bay, Aberdeenshire, and the railway's Cruden Bay Hotel, which LNER owned and managed. Artwork by Gordon Nicoll (1888-1959), who studied at Southampton Art School and at Hornsey under Frank Hillyard Swinstead. He was a member of the London Sketch Club. A landscape painter in watercolour and oil, he designed posters for the London North & Eastern Raliway (LNER), including a memorable series on railway hotels, of which this is an example.
