Description
Poster produced for the London & North Eastern Railway (LNER) to promte rail travel to the second season of the British Empire Exhibition, which was opened by King George V in May 1925. The poster shows crowds approaching an exhibition building, while the border around the image shows two soldiers and a number of pavilions built to represent the colonies of the British Empire. Artwork by Charles 'Shep' Shepherd, who studied art under Paul Woodroffe and was head of the studio at the Baynard Pres. He designed posters for the Royal Mail Packet Steam Company and London Transport as well as SR.
