Description
Poster produced for the Southern Railway (SR) to promote southern routes as gateways to the sun. The illustration is one of many incarnations of a very famous photograph taken in 1924 by commercial photographer Charles E Brown at the end of one of the platforms at Waterloo Station. The original snapshot was reprinted numerous times in several different guises, including French and German language editions. It shows a small boy with spectacles and a suitcase speaking to the driver, who leans out of his locomotive.
