Description
Poster produced for the London, Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS), promoting travel to Northern Ireland, showing the Giant's Causeway, North Antrim. The Giant's Causeway is an impresive rock formation on the North Antrim coast, consisting of 40,000 largely hexagonal basalt columns. Ancient legend has it that the mighty giant of Ulster, Finn McCool, built the step-like causeway in order to bring a female giant from the island of Staffa, to his side. Artwork by Norman Wilkinson (1878-1971).
