The 18th tee on the Queen's Golf Course, Gleneagles, Perth and Kinross, Scotland, 1923. A woman and three men play golf, against a backdrop of the Gleneagles Hotel. Keen to find new ways of attracting custom, the Caledonian Railway set up a semi- independent company in 1914 to build a hotel and golf course at Gleneagles on its main line to Perth. The outbreak of WWI delayed construction, so when this photograph was taken in 1923, the hotel was only just nearing completion.
