Description
Competition between the railway companies was very high and rail services and holidays were advertised at most stations. At this time the railway companies were starting to get increased competition from road transport. Adverts for groceries and medicines were also common outside stations. Stations were a good place to advertise as so many people saw the signs. Adverts were often on enamel signs at this time although posters were starting to become more common.
