Description

"A photograph of a miner and his family outside their house in North Wales, taken by James Jarche for the Daily Herald newspaper on 7 July, 1931. It is obvious from their coal-covered faces that both the father and eldest son have just returned from work. This photograph was taken to illustrate a series of articles written by H V Morton called 'In Search Of Wales'. This photograph has been selected from the Daily Herald Archive, a collection of over three million photographs. The archive holds work of international, national and local importance by both staff and agency photographers."
