Description
"This is the English version of a poster produced jointly by Southern Railway (SR), Northern Railway of France and ALA Steamship Company to promote travel from London Victoria to the Continent via Dunkerque. In 'Making a Poster', the poster artist Austin Cooper wrote of this poster, 'We are told at once what it is all about - from Victoria to Dunkerque at night. We are also told, forcefully and dramatically, that we shall be guided on our way, our path illuminated by friendly beams of light. First-rate propaganda and beautiful design.' Artwork by Adolphe Mouron Cassandre (1901-1968), who was one of the few French artists who designed posters for the British railways. Do NOT USE"
