German soldiers in the Channel Islands, World War Two, 1940-1945.

Photograph taken on the island of Guernsey. When the German armies swept across France it became obvious that the Channel Islands could not be defended. Jersey was occupied from 1 May 1940, and was held until 9 May 1945, then end of the war.
