Description
Wooden inro consisting of two rectangular boxes, oval in cross-section, contained within a rectangular outer sheath, decorated with gold lacquer, inlaid with metal and shell, depicting people and foliage. An inro is a small case or box with compartments, used for storing small objects such as seals, seal paste, or medicine. It was worn by Japanese men, hanging from a sash round the waist.
