Description
The Reverend Edward Noel Mellish (d 1962) who was awarded the Victoria Cross for bravery during World War I. In 1932 Mellish interrrupted a dance at midnight which was being held at St Mary's Parish Church, Dunmow, Essex. 'He was dressed only in pyjamas, and stated that the noise from the neighbourhood of the dance hall, had awakened him, 100 yards away. The dance was stopped immediately, although scheduled to finish at 1 am.'
