Description
Commemorative spade used to turn the first sod of the River Lee Conservancy's new cutting through Horse Shoe Point, Clapton, London. The inscription on the blade reads, 'Lee Conservancy 12th July 1878. With this spade was turned the first sod of the New Cutting of the River Lee through Horse Shoe Point Clapton by Richard Hunt Chairman'.
