Hills, Jennie

The Royal Small Arms armaments factory, Enfield, London, which opened in 1804, was a major manufacturer of firearms for the British Army. It was originally built to produce the famous 'Brown Bess' musket, and later produced equally well known weapons including the Lee-Enfield 303 rifle and the Sten gun. By the end of the 19th century, the factory was supplying British soldiers with 2000 rifles per week.
