Description
This is an example of Britain's famous Codd glass stopper bottle which was invented by Hiram Codd in 1872 for use in the aerated water trade. The glass stopper or marble was enclosed in the neck of the bottle and when the bottle was filled under gas pressure would form an airtight seal with an India rubber seal in the neck of the bottle thus removing the need for a cork.
