Photograph taken in the mid-19th century of an ancient megalith, from the albums of photographer Colonel E R Wood (1819-1876), which were assembled in 1868. Wood was a keen archaeologist and excavated the remains of rhinoceros and cave bear from the Pleistocene (Ice Age) in caves on the Gower peninsula between 1849 and 1866.
