Description
Works cat sitting on a dynamo at Crewe works steel shop, 28 October 1896. Dynamos were used to generate electricity. At this time many of the machines in Crewe works were powered by electricity. Crewe works opened in 1843. During the days of steam Crewe was one of the most important railway works in Britain and built a huge range of railway equipment.
