Description
The Palatine express train, pulled by a Jubilee class 4-6-0 locomotive number 5660 Rooke. The Midland Railway's Palatine service ran once a day between St Pancras station in London and Manchester, passing through Leicester and Derby, and on to Manchester through the Peak District. It was a fast journey, taking around 3 hours, even though the train had to climb some steep inclines in the Peak District.
