2-2-2 Locomotive number 48, 1850. This locomotive operated on the Great Southern and Western of Ireland lines. The GS & WR had close links with British Railway companies such as the Great Western Railway and the London & North Western Railway at this time. This was so that railway companies serving the west coast of Britain could provide full door to door services for passengers and freight travelling across the Irish sea.
