Description
Commuters waiting for the workmen's train, Slough Station, Berkshire. These trains were run into large towns in the early morning and returned in the evening. The coming of the railways meant that people could live further from their place of work because they could travel more easily. This photograph shows that women and children were also taking advantage of early morning rail services.
