A photograph of two children with their mother eagerly watching a Bertram Mills Circus dres rehearsal at Olympia, London, taken by Malindine for the Daily Herald newspaper on 21 December, 1938. Hundreds of children saw the rehearsal for free. The show opened the same day for the Christmas season. The auditorium must be cold as the children have a rug over their knees and the girl is wearing gloves. This photograph has been selected from the Daily Herald Archive, a collection of over three million photographs. The archive holds work of international, national and local importance by both staff and agency photographers.
