A photograph of a man carrying a tray of fresh muffins on his head and a bell in his hand to alert potential buyers, taken by Tomlin for the Daily Herald newspaper on 19 January, 1937. Muffin men feature in the children's 19th century nursery rhyme, 'Have you seen the muffin man?'. In the rhyme, the muffin man lives on Drury Lane. This photograph has been selected from the Daily Herald Archive, a collection of over three million photographs. The archive holds work of international, national and local importance by both staff and agency photographers.
