A photograph of workers building a plane at the Phillips & Powis Aircraft (Reading) Ltd factory at Reading aerodrome, Berkshire, taken by Harold Tomlin for the Daily Herald newspaper. These workers are building the wooden cockpit for a Miles M3B Falcon aeroplane - a monoplane racing aircraft. Developed in 1934, just 36 were built. This photograph has been selected from the Daily Herald Archive, a collection of over three million photographs. The archive holds work of international, national and local importance by both staff and agency photographers.
