A photograph of experimental short wave radio reception, taken by George Woodbine for the Daily Herald newspaper on 14 September, 1934. Glider pilot, Mr Collins, is pictured holding a radio receiving set. It was hoped he would receive a radio signal as he flew over a transmitter set up on a car. This photograph has been selected from the Daily Herald Archive, a collection of over three million photographs. The archive holds work of international, national and local importance by both staff and agency photographers.
