A photograph of two women admiring a 'tame fox' for sale at Selfridges department store, London, taken by George Woodbine for the Daily Herald newspaper on 1 July, 1934. The woman on the left, in a protective laboratory coat, may be an animal handler. She has lifted the fox out of its case, and is showing it to an elegantly dressed woman - who tentatively holds a paw. The fox was part of a summer clearance sale and cost six guineas. This photograph has been selected from the Daily Herald Archive, a collection of over three million photographs. The archive holds work of international, national and local importance by both staff and agency photographers.
