actual image size: 32cm x 24cm

A photograph of a pedal car race, taken by Edward Malindine for the Daily Herald newspaper on 21 June, 1933. Smartly-dressed and at the wheel of three equally smart pedal cars, these children get ready to race at the Duke of York's Garden Party. The race was started by Sir Noel Curtis-Bennett (1882-1950), author and member of the International Olympic Committee, who is standing on the right. This photograph has been selected from the Daily Herald Archive, a collection of over three million photographs. The archive holds work of international, national and local importance by both staff and agency photographers.
