actual image size: 22cm x 32cm

A photograph of a little girl sitting on a stool pouring herself a glas of whisky, taken by James Jarche for the Daily Herald newspaper on 11 October, 1932. The scene is the roof of a building, probably the Daily Herald's offices at Long Acre, near Covent Garden in London. The photograph was taken to illustrate a newspaper feature, but further details are not known. The little girl is, however, wearing a swastika pendant - just visible below the whisky bottle. This photograph has been selected from the Daily Herald Archive, a collection of over three million photographs. The archive holds work of international, national and local importance by both staff and agency photographers.
