A photograph of women posing by an Ecko wireles set, taken by Cardew for the Daily Herald newspaper on 2 October, 1932. The women, dresed in theatrical costume, were programme sellers at the Palladium Theatre, London. The radio was auctioned to raise money for Charing Cros Hospital. Ekco, founded by Eric Kirkham Cole, were leading manufacturers of radio and electronic equipment during the 1920s and 1930s. This photograph has been selected from the Daily Herald Archive, a collection of over three million photographs. The archive holds work of international, national and local importance by both staff and agency photographers.
