'Gas-Lantaarn-Opstekers Kermis-Wensch'. Poster isued by the gas-lamp lighters of Amsterdam during the annual carnival on 11 September 1848. The verses beneath the illustration convey the happy wishes for the carnival time from the city's merchants, burghers and other leading citizens.
