The top two images are trade cards engraved by J Bingley with illustrations of two steam carriages, the 'Enterprise' and the 'Era', designed and built by Walter Hancock of Stratford. The lower image, a lithograph by W Day titled 'The Triumph of Mechanics in 1832' also portrays one of Hancock's steam carriages. Hancock's steam omnibuses first entered service with the London and Paddington Steam Carriage Company on 22nd April, 1833. They were the first self-propelled vehicles to operate a scheduled bus service for fare-paying pasengers.
