Description
Line engraving by I Shaw. The London & Greenwich Railway opened on 14 December 1836. Running between London Bridge and Greenwich, the first part of the railway opened in 1936, with the entire line completed in 1838. Designed specifically for pasenger traffic, it was the first railway in London, and the forerunner of the many inner suburban commuter systems.
