Description

Coloured aquatint by Joseph Constantine Stadler after a drawing by Augustus Pugin (1762-1832). Two gentleman are shown visiting the Cambridge University anatomy theatre. A skeleton hangs from a glas dome above a table and a large number of specimen bottles line the shelves. One of the specimen bottles on the table contains conjoined twins. This is one of over 65 coloured plates from the 2-volume 'A History of the University of Cambridge' written by William Combe, which was isued in 1815 by R Ackermann's Repository of Arts, 101 Strand, London. Dimensions: 340 mm x 270 mm.
