Description
Letterpres handbill distributed at the opening of the Scarborough Cliff Bridge, Yorkshire on 19 July 1827. The handbill lists the dignitaries who were present at the opening and the specifications of the bridge. The iron bridge and promenade leading to the spa at Scarborough became known locally as the 'penny bridge' because of the toll levied to cros it. In Victorian times Scarborough's spa became a popular and fashionable holiday resort. Printed by C Todd, Scarborough.
