'Machine fure et commode pour tirer les silouettes'. A frame holding a canvas is fixed to the arm of a chair between the model and artists so that the silhouette produced by the candle light can be traced onto the canvas. Silhouette portraits were very popular in the 18th and early 19th century. Drawn and engraved by Schellenburg. Dimensions: 8" X 10".
