Description

Hand-coloured caricature engraving by George Cruikshank after T Greenwood, depicting a farcical ballooning scene. Various aerial contraptions can be seen hovering in the sky, while on the ground below a taxi rank of balloons replaces the traditional Hackney carriage as the popular means of transport. From a collection of satirical prints entitled 'Lofty Projects', published by G Humphrey on 17 July 1825. Dimensions: 260mm x 363mm.
