Description
A satire on the church by cartoonist James Gillray. The picture shows a large bishop trying to take off in a hot-air balloon, throwing his riches and religious tracts over the sides to lesen the weight. The caption reads, 'He steers his flight aloft, incumbent on the dusky air that felt unusual weight'. Published by Humphry Bachelor, Oxford Street, London on 8 August, 1810.
