Description
Mezzotint published in the 1860s by Thomas Oldham Barlow after a painting by James Tannock (1784-1863) of Henry Bell (1767-1830) who was a Scottish pioneer of steam navigation. Bell launched the 'Comet', the first pasenger-carrying steamboat in Europe, in 1812. It was launched onto the River Clyde, famous for many years for the Glasgow shipyards. Dimensions: 480mm x 380mm.
