Description
This model is based on bas-reliefs in the temple at Deir-el-Bahari, situated below the Peak of the Thebes, showing ships of Queen Hatshepsut's (c 1540-1481 BC) expedition to the Land of Punt, also referred to as 'God's Land', which was probably in modern day Somalia. Built without ribs, hull strength appears to have depended on a deep wooden keel plank, heavy deck beams, and a hogging trus. The length of the ship was about 80 feet.
