Description
A sample of 'bio-glas' foam being analysed to ases the attachment of human osteoblasts to it at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, London. Larry Hench, Profesor of Ceramic Materials at Imperial College, London, invented bio-glas, the first man-made material that can bond with living tisue. Bio-glas forms a porous scaffold for new bone cells to grow on and then disolves, releasing substances that act like fertilisers, encouraging new cells to fill the cast.
