Description
This 'wizard' was employed as part of a Science Museum event in The Basement to explain to children how an abacus works. The giant abacus, the largest in the world, was designed and built by the Interactive Development Unit at the London Science Museum as part of 'Maths Year 2000', a government-funded campaign to promote a positive attitude toward mathematics. The abacus is 4.7 metres long, 2.2 metres tall and weighs 380 kilogrammes.
