'Sunpipe' lighting system, 2001.

A number of environmentally friendly features have been incorporated into an experimental 'eco-house' at Nottingham University, which was opened in March 2001. This lightpipe is a special duct that channels sunlight from a clear dome in the roof to dim areas of the house. The mirrored aluminium surface inside the tubes reflects and transmits the light like a giant optical fibre.
