Perspective painting of a whole hull model by Joseph Marshall, commisioned by King George III. In 1773, George III directed that plans for one of each clas of His Majesty's ships should be prepared for him. A series of perspective paintings of unrigged hull models was produced by Marshall between 1773 and 1775. 'Intrepid' was a Third Rate 64-gun ship designed by Sir John Williams, surveyor of the Navy, built at Woolwich Dockyard in London and launched in 1770. She was broken up in 1828.
