Description

Greyhound racing became a hugely popular pastime in Britain during the period between the two World Wars, and was regarded by some as the 'inferior pleasure' of the mases. This Julius ticket machine was made by Drake & Gorham Ltd, UK. The Julius Totalisator of which it is a part, was a highly sophisticated electro-mechanical computer in which the odds were determined by the collective action of punters.
