These were the first cameras which allowed the photographic plates to be sensitised, exposed, developed and fixed within the camera body, the chemicals being introduced by means of the rubber bulb and tube. The camera was very popular in Europe because of its convenience. The name Dubroni is an anagram of the surname of the camera's patentee, Jules Bourdin (1832-1893).
