Lyons Electronic Office (LEO) II/1 console, J Lyons & Company Ltd, London, c 1950s. In October 1947, the directors of J Lyons & Company decided to take an active role in promoting the commercial development of computers. In 1951, the LEO I computer was operational and ran the world's first regular routine office computer job. LEO II computers were installed in many British offices, including the Ford Motor Company and the British Oxygen Company. LEO II/1 was installed at the offices of J Lyons & Company Ltd in May 1957.
