This test of cognitive abilities and educational achievement was designed for children aged 2-17 years. It was originally invented by Colin Elliot, published by NFER-Wilson, and used by the Aberdeen City Council Psychological Service. A full UK standardisation of the British Ability Scales (BAS) II, involving nearly 1,700 children, was carried out by the National Foundation for Educational Research (NFER) in 1995.
