Description

Engraved plate taken from the Illustrated London News (1859) showing HRH Prince Albert, the Prince Consort (1819-1861), leaving the inauguration of the Albert Viaduct at Saltash, Cornwall aboard a paddle steamer named 'The Vivid'. The steamer is pasing beneath the bridge, which was built by Sir Isambard Kingdom Brunel (1806-1859), and is being waved-off by crowds of onlookers.
