Photograph taken by Bishop Eric Treacy of the Argyll & Sutherland Highlander with a goods train on the West Coast Main Line at Beattock, Dumfries and Galloway. This Royal Scot Clas steam locomotive, No 46107, was built for the London, Midland & Scottish Railway (LMS). Photographer Treacy (1907-1978) was often allowed special acces to areas denied to many railway photographers. He also befriended many of the footplate crews, occasionally persuading them to create special smoke effects for the camera.
